About Charmie
Charmie Welch was a little girl when she developed a life-changing disability. When living safely at home became difficult due to her increasingly complicated medical needs, her parents looked for options. For a young person with a disability, the only choice at that time was a nursing home. For Charmie’s parents, this was unacceptable.
So began the journey that created The Mary Campbell Center. Charmie’s parents, together with a team of 7 other founders, built a home where young adults with disabilities could live happy, engaged, and fulfilling lives. The Center opened its doors in 1976 to Charmie, and is now home to 68 full-time residents. Together, every day, we discover and celebrate their ABILITY.
The 42nd Annual Charmie Welch Golf Tournament is Monday September 11, 2023 at Dupont Country Club, Wilmington DE.
